Being still overwhelmed by my presence at Father Founder’s Beatification, I find it difficult to put into words my reflections. To begin with, I am filled with GRATITUDE…for the privilege of being present at something I had been praying for and dreaming about for so many years…to all who had anything to do with my being able to be there and for all who helped to make the celebration the magnificent experience that it was.
My presence at the opening service in Laigne-en-Belin reminded me to thank God for all who helped Basil Moreau to be and become who he was, including his parents and all who fostered his education and development. Then participating in the service at Father Moreau’s church led me to be grateful to all who had collaborated with him in his efforts to develop his family of Holy Cross especially Mother Mary of the Seven Dolors.
On the next day, my joy overflowed (accompanied by tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat) at the reading of the Decree, the revealing of the Beatification portrait, and the attendant singing of the ALLELUIAS and the MAGNIFICATS. Particularly touching was the singing of the Refrains in Michael Joncas’ closing hymn” “Bless-ed Ba-sil An-tho-ny Mo-reau.” All of this and more call me to consider well what is God calling me to now. I feel strongly motivated to endeavor ever more to heed Moreau’s advice to “BE WHAT YOU ARE CALLED TO BE.”
