Holy Cross Pilgrimage Center was established by the Marianites of Holy Cross in the fall of 2008 at La Solitude du Sauveur in Le Mans, France. This property, purchased by Father Moreau and named "The Solitude of the Savior", offers the unique opportunity to experience the origins of Holy Cross — to walk the grounds where he and our founding members walked, to view the places and objects that inspired Father Moreau, Mother Mary of the Seven Dolors and others.

The Solitude is the Motherhouse for the Marianites. Although renovations and additions have taken place, the original central structure that housed Father Moreau and our founding members remains.

For many years it has been a place of pilgrimage for members and friends of the Family of Holy Cross. As the beatification of Blessed Basil Moreau has increased devotion to him, the Marianites of Holy Cross are offering this historic space as a center of hospitality and spiritual enrichment for the members of Holy Cross, their co-workers, associates and friends. It will also continue to develop and serve as a center for education and research.

May the Holy Cross Pilgrimage Center inspire a deeper knowledge and love of Father Moreau. May it enable all to walk more closely in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
