St. Jude Community Center offers a variety of services and activities to assist the neighborhood. The center is one outreach of Our Lady of Guadelupe Church, New Orleans. Permission has been given by all the homeless persons who appear in the following photograph.

A wreath, a few ornaments and a friendly word of cheery welcome greeted all guests for Christmas gumbo.

Sr. Mary Beth Mouch, Director of the St. Jude Community Center, stops for the pause that refreshes before the doors are opened to the homeless for lunch. The center serves breakfast and lunch on weekdays; houses homeless working women; provides adult basic education; works with Second Harvest Food Bank to distibute food; houses volunteers staying in the city to help re-build post-Katrina; collaborates with Responsibility House in serving addicts, and so much more.

Coats and hats bear witness to the weather as the room fills with guests to share a meal. On an average day the center serves 200 hot meals. Over 5,000 boxes of food are distributed each month. Currently 10 adults are enrolled in the basic education program.
