Ya'll Go to Yalgo, Burkina Faso

house_and_cow.jpg
A typical sight...a "homestead" in the village of Yalgo: housing, courtyard for cooking and eating, and a shelter for live-stock.
gardening.jpg
How would you like to cultivate this garden? That's Sr. Pascaline Tougma on the far right with a couple of generous helping hands. Those thorn bushes in the background form "the fence" to protect the young plants from hungry sheep and cows.
elvira_sweeping.jpg
Sr. Elvira Brown sweeps the front porch in Kaya, a daily task because of the dust.
church.jpg
Some of the faithful, gathered for Mass in Holy Family Mission Church in Yalgo. All the empty benches will be filled by Mass time.
camel.jpg
Yes, that is a camel...ONE mode of transportation in the hot, dry, dusty area.
shopping.jpg
Going to market ... and then getting the goods back home ... can be a challenge!
kids_in_school_3.jpg
Students were happy to welcome visitors...Sisters Pauline, Kathleen and Regina. The children especially enjoyed seeing their photographs on the sisters' cameras.

playing_music.jpg
Practicing music for the ceremony: Sr. Pauline Drouin, Christine, Sr. Kathleen Stakelum, Julienne, Sr. Pascaline Tougma and Sr. Elvira Brown
women_and_children.jpg
Women from the neighborhood heard the drums (during practice) and brought their children to enjoy the music.

We appreciate the pictures Sr. Kathleen and Sr. Regina brought back from their missionvisit.

Sisters Regina and Kathleen try to blend in wearing the "pangs" presented to them by Holy Family Parish.
regina_pauline_elvira.jpg
Sr. Regina White, Sr. Pauline Drouin and Sr. Elvira Brown stop outside the house in Kaya where the visiting sisters spent the first couple of days of their mission trip.

Shaking the hands of the Regional Soccer Champs are Sr. Regina White and Sr. Elvira Brown.
parades_contitnues.jpg
No matter where or when, people love a parade! Participating schools hold the signs to identify themselves.
waiting_for_parade.jpg
Abbé Clement, Sr. Regina , Sr. Elvira , and Sr. Pauline had special seats at the soccer match.
parade_moreau_school.jpg
With great pride...the march of Ecole Catholoque Basile Moreau prior to the soccor match.
team_bF_banner.jpg
Sisters Regina and Kathleen brought back gifts from the people of Yalgo and from School. Here the MSC Administrative Team sports their T-shirts from the Ecole Catholique Basile Moreau school and display one of the batique banners of the Nativity. Pictured left to right: Sisters Ann Lacour, Regina White, Suellen Tennyson, Joel Miller and Sylvia Asselin.

Lord Jesus, source of all that is good, you inspired Blessed Basil Moreau
to found the religious family of Holy Cross to continue your mission
among the People of God. May he be for us a model of the apostolic life,
an example of fidelity and an inspiration as we strive to follow you.
May we imitate Basil Moreau’s holiness and confidently seek his intercession
before you, Lord Jesus, in our times of need. Amen.
