The Stair Program is designed to help second and third graders with reading skills. Trained, volunteer tutors spend one-on-one time with the children four hours a week. The Marianites donate the use of the Holy Angels Cafeteria for this project so crucial to on-going education.

Reading skills are enhanced in conversation and vocabulary development and just having f-u-n together at the holiday gathering.

Volunteer teachers made sure each child received a gift book for Christmas. In so many ways, the volunteers are the stars of this educational program which helps the students to shine in their reading abilities.

Residents at the Holy Angels' apartments enjoyed the Christmas Party and helped to distribute books to the children to encourage good reading habits. Youngsters entertained by reading..." 'Twas the night before Christmas and..."

At the Christmas Party everyone enjoyed juice and cookies...and then the opportunity to read from a brand new book. By the end of the academic year, many youngsters improve 100% in their ability to read. That's the best gift of all!
