She was nominated by the Crowley Auxiliary because of her service and dedication to St. Michael Church and School. The children at St. Michael school call Sr. Elsie Mae the hugging nun.
Sr. Elsie Mae says, "I have a strong security in my life because I know I am where I need to be. I draw strength from Mary, Jesus' mother, and say a simple prayer that I may touch people's lives daily."
